Issue of prisoners and detainees held in Baku remains part of dialogue with US, Mirzoyan says

The issue of Armenian prisoners of war and detainees held in Baku remains a constant part of discussions between Armenia and the United States, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan said in remarks to journalists.

“Our American partners have consistently shown sincere interest in this issue and have made efforts, and those efforts have yielded results. I very much hope that this issue will see new success in the near future,” Mirzoyan said.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio visited Armenia on May 26.

During the visit, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and Rubio signed the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Charter between the two countries, as well as a framework memorandum on securing supply chains in the extraction and processing of critical minerals and rare earth elements.

The sides also initialled a framework agreement on strategic cooperation related to the “Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity” project.
