On September 24, the President of the Armenian National Assembly, Alen Simonyan, met with the President of the Congress of Deputies of the Kingdom of Spain, Francina Armengol Socías, in Madrid.
The focus of the interlocutors’ discussions was on the development of Armenia-Spain relations, with particular emphasis on the activation of inter-parliamentary ties, as well as cooperation in the economic, educational, and high-tech sectors. Reference was also made to Armenia-EU relations, issues regarding the visa liberalisation process, and the ongoing democratic reforms in Armenia, the press service of the Parliament said.
Special importance was attached to the issue of peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan, which was established in Washington. In this context, the President of the Congress of Deputies of Spain valued the signed documents, noting that Spain is in favor of peace in the region.
Simonyan drew the attention of his colleague to the problem of the captives and illegally held persons in Azerbaijan, highlighting the issue of those considered missing.
