The question of prisoners remains a top priority on the road to peace, Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan said on September 10 during a Q&A session in the National Assembly, addressing the Armenia–Azerbaijan peace process. He underlined the urgency of resolving humanitarian issues, describing them as the first essential step toward lasting peace.
“If the two countries are genuinely talking about establishing peace, it makes sense to begin by addressing humanitarian issues, since these are sensitive and painful matters for people,” Mirzoyan noted.
He stressed that work in this direction continues on a daily basis. At the same time, Mirzoyan cautioned that even if a peace treaty is signed in the near future, it would not in itself mean that peace has been fully consolidated between the two nations.
