Armenia Urges Council of Europe to Address POWs Issue

PanARMENIAN.Net – On June 11, Ruben Rubinyan, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia and head of the Armenian delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), met with Alain Berset, Secretary General of the Council of Europe, alongside other delegation members.

During the meeting, Rubinyan raised the issue of Armenian prisoners of war held in Azerbaijan, as well as individuals subjected to unlawful detention and those reported missing. He emphasized the critical importance of the Council of Europe’s support in addressing these concerns.

The discussion also covered broader regional developments, with a particular focus on the ongoing peace negotiations between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

Earlier, the Speaker of the National Assembly, Alen Simonyan, also met with Secretary General Berset, thanking him for his visit to Armenia. Simonyan similarly underscored the significance of resolving issues related to Armenian detainees, unlawfully held individuals, and missing persons.
