ICRC Has Not Visited Armenian Detainees in Baku for Two Months

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) last visited Armenian prisoners in Baku in March 2025, according to Zara Amatuni, Head of Public Relations at the ICRC Armenia Office, as reported by Tert.am.

“Our organization has been in negotiations with Azerbaijani authorities to maintain a continuous presence and offer support on specific matters. However, I cannot provide details on the format of our future involvement. The last visit to the Armenian captives was conducted in March,” Amatuni explained.

In March 2025, Azerbaijani authorities announced they would not extend the ICRC’s mandate in the country, citing a perceived lack of need for international involvement.

This decision has raised significant concerns both in Armenia and internationally, given the crucial role the ICRC plays in monitoring conditions and providing support during ongoing hostilities.
