President of the National Assembly of Armenia, Alen Simonyan, presented the issue of Armenian prisoners held in Azerbaijan, including those being unlawfully detained and considered missing, to Chairwoman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russia, Valentina Matviyenko. This was reported by the press office of the Armenian Parliament.
During their meeting on June 6 at the National Assembly, Simonyan and Matviyenko discussed various topics on the bilateral agenda, including political, economic, educational, and cultural issues, with a particular emphasis on enhancing interparliamentary cooperation.
The parties also addressed regional developments. The President of Armenia’s National Assembly reaffirmed Armenia’s commitment to establishing lasting peace in the region, stating that Armenia is waiting for the Azerbaijani side to sign the already agreed-upon peace treaty between the two countries. In response, the Chairwoman of the Federation Council emphasized that the Russian Federation supports peace and stability in the region.
